Environmental and sustainability policy
The directors of Confidence Digital Ltd strongly believe that concern for the environment should be an integral and fundamental part of any UK business.
Our aim is to reduce the impact on the environment from our own operations, and this policy sets out our commitment to achieving that goal.
We promote clean living and sustainable development (meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs) as a guiding principle in how we conduct our business.
What we do
Saving the planet, one event at a time.
Our core business is providing support for virtual and streamed events, both of which can greatly reduce the environmental impact of travelling to ‘in person’ events.
Our operation involves the rental of electronic equipment, and there are some steps we take to reduce our own environmental impact:
-
All our stage and studio lighting equipment is powered by LED technology, which uses around 50%- 60% less power than traditional alternatives.
-
When purchasing stock, we always consider energy efficiency as part of the selection process.
-
Where possible, we use Velcro cable ties to reduce the usage of PVC tape normally used to secure our cables for transit.
-
We only use gaffer tape that has widely recycled components, is 100% toluene free, has low VOC content and reduced chemical release agents. Is natural rubber based, and has a residue resistant adhesive. Where possible, we limit its use on site to reduce waste.
-
Where possible, we use rechargeable batteries in our radio systems in order to decrease the usage of one-off chemical battery types.
What we recommend
Whilst we do what we can, we recognise that we work in a wider industry that can be very wasteful. Live Events are often ‘one off’ projects, and there are aspects of putting on a high impact event that can generate unnecessary waste, much of which goes straight to landfill.
In order to reduce that waste, we promote the following:
-
Using electronic display screens for branding rather than printed material, especially where the branding is event specific EG: contains a date or title that prevents it being used again.
-
Using stage sets that are made from sections that can be re-used on other events.
-
We recommend the use of lighting to provide colour for branding, and discourage the use of materials that cannot be recycled.
-
Not carpeting stage sections. Stage carpet can rarely be used again, and often goes straight to landfill.
What we ask of others
Whist we don’t provide 'decorations' to dress an event ourselves, we often work on events that are decorated, so where appropriate, we politely ask our customers to consider :
-
Not using printed materials that cannot be recycled
-
Not using single use plastics
-
Only using biodegradable balloons, and never use ones that are filled with helium.
-
Not using disposable fairly lights powered by lithium cells
